You see a lean man with a graying beard.
“Hey, there! I need help! My companions are caught in a cave-in!”
灰色がかったヒゲの、細身の男だ。
「やあ、ここだ！助けが必要なんだ！私の仲間が洞窟の中で捕まってしまったんだ！」
（救助後）
“Thanks again for your help. Anything I can do for you, friend?”
「重ねて御礼を言おう。助けてくれてありがとう。友よ、何か私に手伝えることはないか？」

“Call me Yellin. Dr. David Yellin.”
He smiles and gives you affirm handshake.
“Pleased to meet you, Sir.”
「イェリンと呼んでくれ。デヴィッド・イェリン博士だ」
彼は微笑んで君と固い握手をした。
「お会いできて嬉しいよ」
Job
“My companions and I have been charting Mars since our arrival in 1893. We are looking for iron ore.”
「私と仲間は、１８９３年に火星に到着してから、ここの調査をしている。鉄鉱石を探しているんだ」
Iron
“Mr. Carnegie sent us out to find some to finish the space cannon.”
「宇宙砲を完成させるため、カーネギー氏が我々を送り出したんだ」
Carnegie
“Not a bad fellow for someone who could buy us all. And he never lets anyone forget that.”
Space cannon
“Talk to Mr. Carnegie about it. He’s in Olympus.”

“Sherman, Duprey and I were surveying in this old mine.”

Surveying
“There was a sudden rumble and the ceiling fell in. Sherman and Duprey are still trapped inside the mine! We have to drill them out.”
「突然、地崩れが起こって天井が崩落したんだ。シャーマンとデュプレイが、まだ鉱山の中に閉じ込められている！彼らを掘り起こさなくてはならない」
Sherman
“He’s my trusted partner, along with Duprey.”
「彼はデュプレイと共に信頼できる仲間だ」
Duprey
“Ol’ Super-Duper and I go back a long way together.”
He grins and winks at you.
「あの老いぼれた詐欺師と私は、長い道のりを一緒に帰るんだ」
彼はにっこりと笑ってウィンクした。
Mine
Dr. Yellin points to the nearby mine entrance and says,
“The entrance is right over there. You make sure to take some oxium with you. The unassembled drill parts are in the shack to the west outside the mine entrance.”
イェリン博士は付近の鉱山の入口を指差して言った。
「入口はそこだ。酸素石を忘れないことだ。バラバラぼドリルのパーツは、洞窟入口の西の掘っ立て小屋にある」
Drill
“I’ve found all these parts of what I’m sure is a Martian drill in the shack outside the mine entrance, but I lack the tool to assemble it.”
「鉱山入口の外の掘っ立て小屋にあるパーツは、火星のドリルだと思う。だが、そいつを組み立てる道具が足りないんだ」
Tool
“A wrench would do it.”
Avatar “I happen to have a wrench”
“Yes! That wrench will work just fine. I do hope we’re not too late!”
「レンチがあればできると思う」
アバタール「偶然にもレンチは持っている」
「素晴らしい！そのレンチならバッチリだろう。まだ手遅れでないことを願う！」
Oxium
“Just chew some oxium, and it will give you all the oxygen you need down there. And anywhere else on the planet, too. Without it, it’s difficult to stay conscious for long. Keep chewing and, if you need to … um… relieve yourself of some of the liquid, be sure to use one of the spittoons you’ll find here and there.”
「酸素石を噛むと酸素が入手できるだろう。ここを潜るのにも、この惑星のどこであっても必要だ。それが無くては、長時間意識を保つことは難しい。噛んでいて、その…何か液体を吐き出したくなったら、たん壷を使うんだ。そこかしこで見つかるだろう」
Signature
“Oh, I’ll sign, and gladly.”
Dr. Yellin moves his spectacles nearer the tip of his nose. With a small fountain-pen, he signs the voucher. He hands the voucher back to you.
“I can hardly repay you by signing this note. I will, however, do my very best to insure the safety of you and your companions. Mars is full of hidden dangers.”
「おお、喜んでサインしよう」
イェリン博士は眼鏡を鼻の頭付近まで動かし、小さな万年筆で証明を書いた。そして、彼は証明を君に手渡した。
「このノートに署名をする程度では、ほとんど君に報いられないが、君と君の仲間の安全を、最大限に保証しよう。火星は見えない危険に満ちているからな」
Join
“No, friend, but I thank you for the offer.”
「いや、申し出だけありがたく受け取るよ」
Bye
“We should hurry. My friends cannot survive much longer!”
「急がなくてはならない。私の友人は、そんなに長くはもたない！」

「友よ、またな」
